History - Progress and the Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution represents progress in terms of productivity and the overall standard of living.  But not everyone benefited, especially in the beginning.  Many farmers didn’t want to leave their land, many workers hated factory work, children were exploited, and pollution increased.   Is it progress if not everyone is progressing?
In my opinion, it is progress if not everyone is progressing.  Not everybody will always benefit from industrial progression or most any other type of progression.  Another reason that I see the Industrial Revolution is because the advancements that were made in this Revolution have undoubtedly increased the potential of the whole world.  Though there were many side effects to the industry growing, the results have unarguably helped the world grow as a whole.
